The upper zone has higher water <br />pressures, which allows for the water pumped in this zone to be supplied to the lower <br />zone during periods of low demand. However, due to the presence of per-and <br />polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) recently detected in the upper zone’s groundwater <br />supply, this source may become unavailable. To provide the upper zone with necessary <br />water in case it loses its groundwater supplies, the City of Santa Ana will construct an <br />emergency booster pump station (EBPS) and relocate its existing Pressure Reducing <br />Station No. 2 (PRS2) to supply the upper zone with water imported from the <br />Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. <br />The City of Santa Ana has recently purchased property located at 315 East 17th Street, <br />where it plans to construct the improvements for the PRS2 and EBPS as part of the
