Compensation for Members of City Boards and Commissions <br />December 5, 2023 <br />Page 2 <br />3 <br />8 <br />9 <br />9 <br />DISCUSSION <br />At the November 21, 2023 meeting, the City Council approved the first reading of <br />Ordinance No. NS-3053 to amend Section 2-325 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code to <br />provide that compensation for City boards and commissions be set by resolution of the <br />City Council. The ordinance (Exhibit 1) is now being presented to the City Council at the <br />December 5, 2023 meeting for a second reading; if adopted, the ordinance will become <br />effective 30 days thereafter. In effect, the ordinance removes the compensation <br />amounts from the Municipal Code and instead provides, in part, that “[c]ompensation for <br />City boards and commissions shall be set by resolution of the City Council.” <br />The attached resolution (Exhibit 2) provides that each member of a City board, <br />commission, or committee will be compensated $100 per meeting, effective July 1, <br />2023.
