Describe the Family Festivals are part of a strategy that features free programs that
community benefits ensure underserved communities in Santa Ana have access to the arts,
of this event the museum, and opportunities to experience and learn more about a
variety of cultures. These programs includes things such as free school
tours for Santa Ana students in Title I schools that meet CA content
standards, free festivals that serve Santa Ana residents of all ages, free
admission to the museum for Santa Ana residents on one Sunday per
month, and free art classes for Santa Ana seniors that build social
connections, fine motor skills, cultural competency, and help to maintain
cognitive function. Although the City of Santa Ana supports the
administration of the museum building/facility through an annual contract,
the Bowers must raise funding to provide these valuable programs and
ensure that they can be offered for free and include components to
specifically welcome underserved audiences.
Free festivals help visitors of all ages to appreciate and gain a better
understanding of a variety of world cultures by experiencing these cultures'
music, food, visual arts, and performing arts. The festivals provide
opportunities for families to engage in free recreational cultural activities
that offer children and parents/caregivers the opportunity to explore the
cultural arts together through interactive, collaborative activities.
