Recent increases in the water rates have already increased my utility charges through an
approximate doubling of the basic service charge. Reducing my water use has little effect on my
water bill.
2. The new contract with Republic Services already resulted in an increase in Santa Ana residents'
trash collection fees.
3. Santa Ana residents approved a hefty sales tax increase effective April 2019 through Measure X. I
think the city should use revenues from that source to pay for added sanitation services charges.
I hope that you will consider these arguments against the proposed increases and seek other funds to
pay for them.
Sincerely,
Lawrence A.
