HMOC staff and local art students will work <br />together to construct and decorate the ofrenda in a traditional style, paying <br />homage to the holiday's indigenous and Mexican roots. HMOC hopes to <br />offer culturally -significant crafts and activities for children, as well as <br />traditional foods, and live music. <br />Describe the Heritage Museum of Orange County's Dia do los Muertos Community Altar <br />community benefits gives members of the local community, no matter their religious or ethnic <br />of this event <br />background, an opportunity to celebrate this significant holiday and to <br />remember loved ones lost. HMOC offers this event as a way to honor and <br />commemorate members of the community whom we have lost, and to <br />engage the community in healing and remembering. HMOC hopes to <br />educate those who have not traditionally celebrated Dia de los Muertos <br />about the significance of the holiday, by providing a platform for those who <br />have a deep connection to Dia de los Muertos to share their knowledge <br />and cultural wealth. <br />Amount Requested <br />1750.0 <br />Proposed Use of <br />$750 - Santa Ana Artist -led Sugar Skull -painting workshop and supplies <br />Funds <br />$250 - live entertainment (violinist) <br />$2.50 - ofrenda decorations, frames, and printed photographs <br />$500 - refreshments (pan de muerte) from Santa Ana -based Panaderia <br />
