a <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />The Contractor shall have an assistant assigned to watch -out for the general public <br />and, if any person attempts to enter the area where IPM/pest control products are <br />being applied, to protect them by stopping their entry into the application zone. <br />Should a person(s) from the general public ignore the assistants warnings, the <br />assistant shall cause the QAL/QAC Applicator to cease operations until the DR <br />can be contacted for assistance. <br />c. Following completion of the QAL/QAC Applicators applications, the Contractor's <br />Assistant shall continue to protect the general public by warning them not to enter <br />the pest control application zone until the re-entry zone time frame has passed. <br />5. Integrated Pest Management (IPM) & Pest Control Services <br />a. Weed Abatement <br />All casual and priority/sports turf areas shall always be free of weeds. <br />Weeds shall be removed by hand and/or approved mechanical, organic <br />or herbicide methods. The Contractor shall apply post -emergent <br />herbicides a minimum of one (1) time per month to abate all weeds to <br />turf areas being careful to not damage or eradicate non -target plant <br />material. The Contractor shall be responsible for the replacement of <br />any non -target plant material of like quantities, size and species per the <br />DRs direction. In addition, the DR may dispatch City staff or other <br />contractor's to remove/eradicate weeds that reach one (1) inch or <br />greater or when weeds exist in turf areas and are not <br />removed/eradicated immediately. In such instance, the cost will be <br />deducted from the Contractor's monthly invoice. <br />The Contractor may elect to apply pre -emergent herbicides as a <br />strategy to reduce the germination of weeds at park properties. Should <br />the Contractor elect to apply pre -emergent herbicides to control the <br />germination of weeds, they shall get written approval from the DR prior <br />to applying specific products. Note, should pre -emergent herbicides <br />harm plant material, the Contractor shall remove the damaged plant <br />material and replace the affected area with like quantities, sizes and <br />species of plant material to the satisfaction of the DR. <br />b. Sport/Priority Turf Management Support <br />Perennial Rye Grass Eradication - Beginning in April all sport/priority <br />turf shall have post -emergent herbicide Revolver (16-17 oz./acre), non- <br />ionic surfactant, a turf marker and ferrous oxide pre -mixed in a tank to <br />eradicate perennial rye grass, poa annual and other turf species <br />indicated on the product label. Following the initial application, the <br />Contractor shall continuously apply post emergent herbicides to <br />eradicate all turf and broadleaf weeds. <br />c.
