Parks, Recreation, and Community Services <br />www.santa-ana.org/parks <br />Item # 20 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br /> Staff Report <br />January 16, 2024 <br />TOPIC: Traffic Control Equipment and Services at City Events <br />AGENDA TITLE <br />Second Amendment to Agreement with California Barricade Rentals, Inc. for Traffic <br />Control Equipment and Services at City Events to Increase the Total Agreement Not To <br />Exceed Amount by $185,000 through March 31, 2025, for a New Total Not to Exceed <br />Amount of $400,000 (General Fund) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize the City Manager to execute a second amendment to the agreement with <br />California Barricade Rentals, Inc. for traffic control equipment and services at City events to <br />increase the total agreement not to exceed amount by $185,000 through March 31, 2025 <br />for a new total not-to-exceed amount of $400,000 (Agreement No. A-2024-XXX). <br />GOVERNMENT CODE §84308 APPLIES: Yes <br />DISCUSSION <br />On April 5, 2022, the City entered into an agreement to California Barricade, Inc. for traffic <br />control equipment and services for City events. The award was made through a <br />competitive Request for Proposals (RFP) process, whereby California Barricade Rentals, <br />Inc. was selected. <br />On June 6, 2023, the City approved an amendment to increase the agreement amount <br />by $65,000 to fund additional Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Agency <br />(PRCSA) events as well as other future Police Department community events requiring <br />these services. Out of the $65,000 amendment, $40,000 was allocated to PRCSA and <br />$25,000 was allocated to the Police Department. <br />Staff is requesting an increase of $185,000 through the end of the contract. This past <br />year, the Fiesta Patrias Parade increased the need by $55,000 and $65,000 is <br />anticipated for next year ($120,000 total). The newly added Tet Festival is anticipated to <br />need $15,000 for each of the two upcoming years ($30,000 total) and, due to the size <br />last year, the Egg Hunt is anticipated to need an increase of $5,000 each year as well <br />($10,000 total). Lastly, staff is requesting $20,000 for any unanticipated need in <br />services.
