Councilmember Phan spoke regarding the funds expended on the special election and <br />stated that the funds would be better -utilized providing services to residents. <br />Councilmember Bacerra spoke on the narrative used to describe the Police Department <br />and spoke in support of setting an election date. <br />Mayor Amezcua spoke regarding her previous candidate endorsements and spoke in <br />support of the proposed Tuesday November 14, 2023 election date. <br />The motion carried, 6-0-1, by the following roll call vote: <br />AYES: <br />COUNCILMEMBER BACERRA, COUNCILMEMBER <br />HERNANDEZ, COUNCILMEMBER PENALOZA, <br />COUNCILMEMBER PHAN, COUNCILMEMBER <br />VAZQUEZ, MAYOR AMEZCUA <br />NOES: <br />NONE <br />ABSTAIN: <br />MAYOR PRO TEM LOPEZ (recusal) <br />ABSENT <br />NONE <br />Status: <br />6-0-1— PASS <br />**END OF BUSINESS CALENDAR** <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS — Members of the public may address the City Council on each of <br />the Public Hearing items. <br />28.
