City Clerk's Office <br />www.santa-ana.org/city-clerks-office/ <br />Item # 24 <br />o`er City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br />Staff Report <br />February 6, 2024 <br />TOPIC: SCAG Business Meeting Alternate Representative <br />AGENDA TITLE <br />Nominate and Appoint an Alternate Representative to the Southern California <br />Association of Governments General Assembly Business Meeting <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Nominate and appoint an alternate for purposes of the Southern California Association <br />of Governments General Assembly Business Meeting <br />GOVERNMENT CODE 484308 APPLIES: No <br />DISCUSSION <br />The City Council represents the City's interests in regional issues by serving on a <br />number of regional boards/agencies which make public policy decisions in the areas of <br />transportation, water resources, fire resources, and government facilities. <br />The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) is an association <br />representing six counties (Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, <br />and Ventura) that works to develop regional plans for transportation, growth <br />management, housing development, air quality, and other issues of regional <br />significance. Mayor Amezcua was appointed as the City's representative to the SCAG <br />Regional Council for District 16 on April 4, 2023. <br />SCAG holds an annual Regional Conference and General Assembly Business Meeting. <br />The 59t" Annual Conference and General Assembly Business Meeting will be held from <br />Thursday, May 2, 2024 to Friday, May 3, 2024 in Palm Desert, CA. SCAG has <br />requested that the City designate an Alternate Representative for purposes of the <br />General Assembly, in the event that the Delegate Representative (Mayor Amezcua) is <br />unable to attend. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There is no financial impact associated with this action. <br />
