Budget Calendar and Community Engagement Plan for Fiscal Year 2024-2025 <br />Department(s): Finance and Management Services <br />Recommended Action: Approve the Budget Calendar and Community Engagement <br />Plan for Fiscal Year 2024-25. <br /> <br />MINUTES: Finance Director Kathryn Downs gave a presentation regarding the <br />Budget Calendar and Community Engagement Plan for Fiscal Year 2024-2025. <br /> <br />Councilmember Vazquez spoke regarding the additional community engagement <br />and the importance of the efforts. <br /> <br />Mayor Amezcua asked for clarification regarding outreach efforts and spoke <br />regarding additional community outreach. <br /> <br />Director Downs stated the survey reached 1,500 individuals and spoke regarding <br />additional community engagement <br /> <br />Interim City Manager Tom Hatch stated he would meet with staff to discuss <br />additional community outreach efforts. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Lopez requested a City-wide youth forum and adding a meeting at <br />Fisher Park inside the cabin. <br /> <br />Councilmember Phan asked if text messaging was used for the survey and spoke <br />regarding a variety of options for community engagement at schools. <br /> <br />Director Downs stated that text-messaging services are only to be used for <br />emergencies but would inquire of the possibility. <br /> <br />Mayor Amezcua spoke regarding options for community engagement at schools <br />and asked for clarification regarding text-messaging services. <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney Jose Montoya stated that text-messaging services are <br />typically used for emergencies but he would further look into the matter. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hernandez spoke in support of the youth forum and cabin at Fisher <br />Park and requested a meeting at Campesino Park. <br /> <br />Mayor Amezcua commented that a meeting would be beneficial at all City Parks.
