City Manager Office <br />www.santa-ana.org/city-managers-office <br />Item # 35 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br /> Staff Report <br />February 20, 2024 <br />TOPIC: City Council Aide Consultancy Services <br />AGENDA TITLE <br />Approve Second Amendments to Agreements with Claudia Perez, Andrew Linares, and <br />Valerie Magdaleno for City Council Aide Consultancy Services (General Fund) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize the City Manager to execute amendments to the agreements with Claudia <br />Perez, Andrew Linares, and Valerie Magdaleno for City Council aide consultancy <br />services to increase the not-to-exceed amount of each agreement by $10,000, for a <br />total amount not to exceed $60,000 per each agreement, and to extend the term of the <br />agreements to June 30, 2024. (Agreement Nos. A-2024-XXX, A-2024-XXX, A-2024- <br />XXX) <br />GOVERNMENT CODE §84308 APPLIES: Yes <br />DISCUSSION <br />During Fiscal Year 2022-23, the City Council appropriated $420,000 to be budgeted <br />annually to provide City Council aide consultancy services for each member of the City <br />Council. Under this program, each councilmember may direct the City Manager’s Office <br />to engage one or more independent contractors to provide services to that <br />councilmember; these direct services augment general City Council staff support <br />provided by the City Manager’s Office and include one or more of the following: (1) data <br />collection and analysis, program evaluation, and public policy; (2) community <br />engagement; and (3) constituent services. <br />As directed by the City Council, the City Manager’s Office allocates $60,000 for these <br />services for each of the seven members of the City Council, totaling $420,000. The <br />table below provides an overview of all existing agreements for City Council aide <br />consultancy services.
