<br />17 <br /> <br />Economic Prosperity <br />Located at the center of jobs-rich Orange County, Santa Ana businesses and workforce <br />play an important role in the local and broader regional economy. The City’s General Plan <br />aims to expand, maintain, and enhance job opportunities for residents; attract and retain <br />a balance of business types; and contribute to the overall quality of life experienced by <br />the city’s residents through increased economic prosperity. <br /> Business Tax Holiday <br />The Business License Tax Holiday is a temporary program in place as of January 1, 2023 <br />after being approved on the ballot at the November 8, 2022 General Election. This <br />program authorizes the waiver of: (1) prior year taxes, penalties, and interest due for <br />unlicensed businesses; (2) unpaid current year penalties and interest assessed upon <br />licensed businesses who owe current year business license taxes; and (3) penalties and <br />interest assessable on underreported or misfiled taxes by licensed business who are <br />currently not in compliance with the City’s business license tax. The aim of the Tax <br />Holiday Program is to encourage all businesses, who have not yet obtained their required <br />business license, or who owe unpaid, underreported, or misfiled taxes to come forward <br />and fully comply with the City’s business license tax requirements. <br /> Business Outreach <br />On July 13, 2023 the City of Santa Ana <br />held a Vietnamese Business Forum. The <br />Vietnamese Business Forum aimed to <br />foster collaboration, drive economic <br />growth, and create opportunities for <br />business expansion in Santa Ana. <br />Throughout the event, attendees had the <br />opportunity to engage with <br />representatives from the City of Santa <br />Ana's Community Development Agency, <br />Planning and Building Agency, Public <br />Works Agency, Finance and <br />Management Services Agency, and the <br />Police Department. Guidance on various <br />aspects of business development, <br />permitting processes, zoning, safety <br />measures and more were provided for <br />attendees. Additional resources were <br />provided by outside agencies including Orange County Inland Empire Small Business <br />Development Center, Better Business Bureau, Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce, <br />Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce, and the Orange County Transportation Authority. <br />»Above: Flyer designed for the Vietnamese Business Forum.
