RESOLUTION NO. 2024-XXX <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA APPROVING THE GRANT OF FUNDS FROM <br />THE STATE COASTAL CONSERVANCY FOR THE <br />SANTIAGO PARK MAIN STREET CONSTRUCTION <br />WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of California has established the State <br />Resources Code, and has authorized the Conservancy to award grants to public agencies <br />and nonprofit organizations to implement the provisions of Division 21; and <br />WHEREAS, the Conservancy awards grants for projects that it determines are <br />consistent with Division 21 of the Public Resources Code <br />Strategic Plan and <br />limited funding; and <br />WHEREAS,the City's Public Works ParkServices submitted an application for <br />these grantfunds to make improvements to the City'sSantiago Park; and <br />WHEREAS, at its February 15, 2024meeting, the Conservancy adopted a <br />Gthe Santiago Park <br />Main Street EntrancePin an amount not to exceed$2,807,000. The resolution <br />was adopted by the Conservancy pursuant to and is included in the Conservancy <br />February 15, 2024staff recommendation, a copy of which is on file with the Grantee and <br />with the Conservancy; and <br />WHEREAS, theProject isintendedtoenhance and restore the primary entrance <br />to Santiago Park,increasepublicuseofthetrail,provide additional connectivity to the <br />park, and further enhance this natural park by restoring the native landscape and includes <br />construction of an ADA accessible pedestrian walkway, bike trail, creek viewing decks, <br />interpretive graphics, security lighting, drought tolerant landscaping and drip irrigation <br />from the Main street entrance; and <br />WHEREAS, the Conservancy requires that the governing body of the Grantee <br />certify through a resolution that it approves the awardof Conservancy grant funding and <br />authorizes the execution by a representative of the Grantee of a grant agreement on <br />terms and conditions required by the Conservancy grant agreement. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEDby the City Council of the City of Santa <br />Ana as follows: <br />Section 1.The award of grantfunding from the Conservancy for the Projectis <br />hereby approvedin an amount not to exceed $2,807,000. <br />Resolution No. 2024-XXX <br />Page 1of 3 <br /> <br />
