The rich
history and tradition of the Juneteenth Celebration in Centennial Regional Park organized by the Orange County Heritage
Council. (OCHC) founded the Juneteenth Celebration in Centennial Park in June 2021 as an African American community based
event in the long tradition of Freedom Day festivals since 1865 in Texas. This event holds great significance for me and our
community

My dedication to attending the festival with my family and friends, treating it like a family reunion, speaks to the sense of

community and connection that events like these can foster. It's heartwarming to see how this celebration has evolved over the
years, carrying on the spirit of unity and cultural pride.

My advocacy for the continuation of this event and the preservation of this community's traditions is commendable. It's important
for cultural events like Juneteenth to be upheld and celebrated, providing a space for communities to come together, honor their
heritage, and educate others about their history.

2
