Escaping
domestic violence will likelybe one of the hardest – but mostcritical – stepsthat they willtake in their
life and the lives of their children.
For seven years, CDBG funding from the City of Santa Ana has allowed us to focus on providing
wraparound legal services to dozens of Santa Anaresidentsin an effort to help themobtainlong-term
safety and well-being. Here is one example of how this grant hasimpacted the lives of your
constituents: earlier this year, CLA SoCal was calledby a Santa Ana resident who was in an abusive
relationship, andwho was trying to get a restraining orderon her own. Unfortunately, her abuserand
his attorneyhadsuccessfully stalledthe processfor months. We were able to helpour client file the
paperwork that led to a hearing, where we fiercely represented her. Because of the support our CDBG-
funded staff were able to provide, our client was able to resolve astressful and dangeroussix-month
process and obtain a permanentrestraining order.
Thank you again for your support of thisproject. Together we are making a difference in the lives of
Santa Ana families. I hope that you will vote to continue this meaningful partnership in 2024-202.
