Ibarra, Evelyn
From:Patrisia Gonzalez <Patrisia@delhicenter.org>
Sent:Tuesday, May 7, 2024 2:37 PM
To:eComment
Subject:Delhi Center: Agenda item number (#29)
Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana. Use caution when opening attachments or links.
Dear Esteemed Councilmembers,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to urgently request your support for the funding of the Delhi
Center's TELL (Teens Engaged in Leadership and Learning) program, a vital initiative aimed at addressing the
pressing challenges faced by our youth in Santa Ana, particularly in our underserved community of the Delhi
neighborhood.
The TELL program is multifaceted, designed to equip our teens with the necessary skills and opportunities to
navigate and overcome the pervasive issues of crime, gangs, and bullying that plague our neighborhoods.
Through comprehensive research initiatives, evidence-based curriculum, and collaborative endeavors, TELL
continues to empower our youth to develop resilience, confidence, and leadership qualities essential for their
personal growth and community well-being. This is evidenced by the past 7 years of successful programming
with over 100 youth who are now either graduating Universities, have stable jobs, or are involved with giving
back to the community. Some, are now part of our youth leadership team who make the same impact on
younger generations as this program did for them.
One of the most critical components of the TELL program is its focus on the holistic wellness of our youth, and
anti-bullying advocacy. Bullying has profound and long-lasting effects on our youth, impacting their academic
performance, mental health, and overall well-being. By engaging teens in crafting policy documents, building
leadership and professional soft skills, and participating in intensive training sessions, TELL equips our youth
with the necessary tools to combat bullying effectively and create a safer environment for all.
Furthermore, the integration of technology and natural resource exploration, made possible through
partnerships with UCI and the Irvine Ranch Conservancy, represents a groundbreaking approach to youth
empowerment. By exposing our teens to AI literacy curriculum and outdoor excursions, TELL not only
enhances their academic and technological proficiency but also fosters a deeper connection to their
surroundings, promoting community awareness and engagement.
In closing, I urge you to consider the immense impact that the TELL program can have on the lives of our youth
and the overall well-being of our community. By investing in TELL, you are not only investing in the future of
our youth but also in the future prosperity and resilience of Santa Ana. Thank you for your time and
consideration.
Warm regards,

Patrisia Gonzalez, (she/her)
Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Delhi Center
505 East Central Ave
Santa Ana, CA 92707
714.481.9625
1
