<br />Resolution No. 2024-XXX <br />Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2024-XXX <br /> <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA ACCEPTING A GRANT FROM KAISER <br />PERMANENTE’S OPERATION SPLASH PROGRAM TO <br />PROVIDE FREE AND DISCOUNTED SWIM LESSONS <br />FOR LOW -INCOME YOUTH AND ADULTS AND FREE <br />JUNIOR LIFEGUARD TRAINING AND AUTHORIZING THE <br />CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE TO NEGOTIATE AND <br />EXECUTE ANY AGREEMENTS OR AMENDMENTS <br />THERETO THAT MAY BE NECESSARY <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Kaiser Permanente Community Benefit Foundation (“Operation <br />Splash”) has certain grant funds available to assist the City of Santa Ana’s (“City”) <br />Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency’s Aquatics section to provide <br />subsidized Learn-to-Swim lessons for economically disadvantaged youth and adults as <br />well as free Junior Lifeguard Training; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency <br />submitted an application, on behalf of the City, for these grant funds to use towards the <br />Aquatics Programming for Learn-to-Swim scholarships, Junior Lifeguard Training, a <br />Silver Swimming Program for Seniors, subsidized Family Recreation Swim Passes and <br />“Rethink Your Drink” campaign materials for Santa Ana residents; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City was notified that it has been selected for a grant award by <br />Operation Splash in an amount not to exceed $37,500 for the first year and an <br />additional $37,500 for the second year; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Operation Splash requires, as a condition precedent to <br />commencement of the programs and disbursement of the funds, the City Council to <br />adopt a resolution designating positions wh ose incumbents are authorized to negotiate <br />and execute the grant agreement and any amendments to it on behalf of the City. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa <br />Ana as follows: <br /> <br />Section 1. The City of Santa Ana hereby accepts the award of grant funds <br />from Operation Splash in an amount not to exceed $75,000 for two years. <br /> <br /> Section 2. The City Council of the City of Santa Ana hereby authorizes the <br />City Manager, on terms acceptable to the City Attorney, to execute any documents that <br />are necessary to accept the grant award described herein from Operation Splash
