TamalFest - FeelGood Events <br />Among many, many others. <br /> <br />Artwalk: (Event grant awardee) <br />Direct economic development for DTSA business and artists <br />Promotes culture and community <br />Highlights local vendors and artists <br />Funds locals bands and musicians <br />Showcases SAUSD Arts students with Boca de Oro <br />Exhibitions that speak to our history, culture and people <br /> <br /> <br />I would like to request and advocate for the following. <br /> <br /> Artists Grants and Event Sponsorships <br />We advocate for the city to fund this at 1 million dollars a year. <br /> <br /> <br /> Artwalk <br />We advocate for the city to fund art walk directly every year. <br /> <br /> <br /> New and private development <br />We advocate 1% funding to be given to the arts and culture budget from every new private <br />development in the city. <br /> <br /> <br /> Fund the Arts Culture Master Plan fully <br />The city Arts Master plan has not been funded for over 6 years. <br /> <br /> <br /> Arts and Culture Department <br />To act proactively and request sponsorships and funding from outside the city like every other <br />department in the city does. Hire a grant writer for the city arts and culture department. <br /> <br /> Bowers Museum <br />Request to cancel the 37 year old subsidy the city has given the Bowers Museum immediately. <br />Request to redirect this arts funding to be allocated directly and centralized within the Arts and <br />Culture Department that will fund artist grants and event sponsorships directly and our Arts and <br />Culture Master Plan. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />I thank you for taking the time to have a proactive and healthy discussion on the state of the arts budget in our <br />city and adopt a more robust budget that is equitable and supports the vibrant arts and culture community in <br />our city. <br /> <br /> <br />We can not continue to give 80% of our arts budget to just one entity, the Bowers <br />Museum. <br /> <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />
