Approve an amendment to the Project Cost Analysis in the amount of $270,000 <br /> for $240,000 in additional contingency funds and $30,000 in additional contract <br /> administration, inspection, and testing for a new estimated total construction <br /> delivery cost of$2,257,050. <br /> 2. Approve an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2023-24 Capital Improvement <br /> Program to include $270,000 of Acquisition & Construction funds for the First SA- <br /> 5 Vault Modifications Project (11-6413). <br /> GOVERNMENT CODE U4308 APPLIES: Yes <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> The SA-5 vault is one of seven connections between the City and Metropolitan Water <br /> District (MWD). The connection safeguards MWD water and ensures reliability of <br /> drinking water for residents and businesses, especially should there be an emergency <br /> or if the water system is interrupted. The goal of the project is to refurbish the existing <br /> piping, valves, equipment, and relocate the vault for easier access to minimize traffic <br /> impacts during routine maintenance along Bristol Street between Garry Avenue and <br /> Alton Avenue (Exhibit 1). <br /> On April 2, 2019, the City Council authorized the award of a construction contract to T.E <br /> Roberts, Inc. to improve the existing conditions of the SA-5 vault (Exhibit 2). The <br /> project is currently under construction and additional MWD modification change orders <br /> relating to the control systems have surpassed the existing contingency of $229,275 <br /> (Exhibit 3). Additional contingency will also be needed for future potential unforeseen <br /> work as the project progresses to completion. <br /> To capitalize on the favorable pricing of the existing contract with T.E. Roberts, Inc., <br /> Staff recommends increasing the project contingency by $270,000 which includes the <br /> City Council 10 — 1 5/21/2024 <br />
