Public Works Agency <br />www.santa-ana.org/public-works <br />Item # 31 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br />Staff Report <br />June 4, 2024 <br />TOPIC: Agreement with Yunex Traffic for Traffic Signal and Street Lighting Maintenance <br />AGENDA TITLE <br />Approve Agreement with Yunex Traffic to Provide Preventative and Emergency <br />Maintenance Services of the Traffic Signal and Street Lighting Systems (Special Gas <br />Tax, General Fund) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize the City Manager to execute an agreement with Yunex, LLC dba Yunex <br />Traffic to provide Preventative and Emergency Maintenance Services of the Traffic <br />Signal and Street Lighting Systems, for a total amount not to exceed $7,000,000, for a <br />three-year term beginning July 2, 2024, and expiring July 1, 2027, with a provision for <br />one, two-year extension (Agreement No. A-2024-XXX). <br />GOVERNMENT CODE §84308 APPLIES: Yes <br />DISCUSSION <br />The City's Traffic Signal and Street Lighting systems consists of 308 traffic signals, <br />12,100 Streetlights, 100 Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras, 16 Crosswalk <br />Flashing Beacons, and nine (9) Speed Feedback signs. To effectively and safely <br />operate and maintain the traffic signal and street lighting systems and associated <br />infrastructure, the City relies on a specialty maintenance contractor to provide the <br />necessary personnel, equipment, and resources. Maintenance consists of two <br />components: Routine Maintenance and Extraordinary/Emergency Services. <br />Routine Maintenance is preventive and is performed on a scheduled basis. It consists <br />of inspection and service once per month of each traffic signal and corresponding <br />computerized controller housed in an equipment cabinet. Certain system components, <br />such as cameras, flashing beacons and speed feedback signs, will receive quarterly <br />(once every three months) checkups and Streetlight night surveys will receive <br />semiannual (once every six months) checkup for safety, operation, and cleanliness. <br />Additionally, Extraordinary/Emergency Services are performed on an on -call basis, in <br />response to unforeseen circumstances such as damage caused by accidents or failure <br />
