City Clerk's Office <br />www.santa-ana.org/city-clerks-office <br />Item # 7 <br />o`'r City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br />Staff Report <br />June 4, 2024 <br />TOPIC: Conflict of Interest Code <br />AGENDA TITLE <br />Conflict of Interest Code Biennial Review <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Direct the City Manager and City Clerk to have the City's Conflict of Interest Code <br />reviewed, file a statement of review with the City Council no later than October 1, 2024, <br />and revise the Conflict of Interest Code based upon such review, if necessary. <br />GOVERNMENT CODE 484308 APPLIES: No <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Political Reform Act, specifically Government Code §§87300-87314, requires all <br />local agencies to review their Conflict of Interest Code (Code) every two years and <br />make a determination as to the Code's accuracy or whether it needs to be amended. A <br />written biennial notice of that determination must be submitted to the code -reviewing <br />body no later than October 1 of even -numbered years. <br />The City Council is the code -reviewing body for the City of Santa Ana's Conflict of <br />Interest Code. The process is initiated by direction of the code -reviewing body to the <br />agency, no later than July 1, 2024, to review its code. Subsequently, staff will begin the <br />process of reviewing the Code, submit the biennial notice no later than October 1, 2024, <br />and present amendments to the Code, if needed, to the City Council for review and <br />approval within 90 days thereafter, prior to December 31, 2024. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />There is no fiscal impact associated with this action. <br />Submitted By: Jennifer L.
