Resolution Approving the Santa Ana Vision Zero Plan
June 4, 2024
Page 2
The SAVZ Plan analyzed five years of traffic collision data between 2017 and 2021 to
identify collision patterns throughout the city. From the analyzed collision data, corridors
and intersections were ranked based on the density and severity of the collisions,
proximity to schools, number of street lanes, and equity. The SAVZ Plan identified the
top 10 corridors and top 10 intersections in the ranking.
Top 10 Corridors in Need of Traffic Safety
Enhancements
Corridor
Rankin
Main Street
1
Euclid Avenue
2
1 st Street
3
Tustin Avenue
4
Greenville Avenue
5
Grand Avenue
6
Fairview Street
7
Bristol Street
8
4t" Street
9
17t" Street
10
Top 10 Intersections in Need of Traffic Safety
Enhancements
Intersection
Rankin
Harbor Boulevard at 1 st Street
1
17t" Street at Grand Avenue
2
Harbor Boulevard at McFadden Avenue
3
1 st Street at Flower Street
4
Edinger Avenue at Maple Street
5
Segerstrom Avenue at Bear Street
6
Flower Street at Macarthur Boulevard
7
Macarthur Boulevard at Raitt Street
8
Dyer Road at Flower Street
9
Flower Street at Alton Avenue
10
The plan then assessed the factors associated with each collision along the identified
corridor and provided specific safety improvement recommendations to address the
types of collisions that occurred within those corridors. Additionally, cost estimates for
the recommended improvements of each project corridor were developed. These plans
and cost estimates will aid the City in pursuing future grant funding opportunities and to
facilitate implementation of safety features. Staff recommends the approval of this
resolution (Exhibit 2) in order to continue to pursue grant funding followed by the
implementation of the safety improvements presented in the SAVZ Plan.
