Use caution when opening attachments or links.
Mayor and Council…thank you for considering whether the City should partner with CalOp?ma in providing street level
medicine to those who may otherwise may not have the medical care that you and I have access to. I believe that by
partnering with CalOp?ma that we can help those on the streets with their medical needs and connect them to the next
best level of care. I have connected with mul?ple people on the streets who have apparent medical needs whether it be
wound care or other physical needs, or mental health needs, or addic?on needs. I have found that they o?en do not
know what to do. What steps should they take? What may seem obvious to those who have access to the internet, a
social/family support system, easy phone access, etc… I find that those who are in need at that ?me of their life o?en do
not know wher to even start. I have found that services like Wound Walk OC where I have had to call in Michael Wright
to urge him to come and help someone has been cri?cal to helping those who otherwise may not seek more tradi?onal
medical needs. Further, when something that may start small and can be addressed by a professional who is trained in
street medical care can o?en prevent something larger in the future which may require even more elevated health care
services- something small up front can prevent a larger issued down the road.

Addi?onally, I believe that CalOp?ma is very well funded and would be open to helping their members on our City
streets. They know that someone accessing emergency room medical care is not fiscally sound but also o?en not the
best level of care for those seeking care.

Please explore this op?on to see if this is something that the city can partner with CalOp?ma on and access its vast
financial resources in order to provide for those who are o?en in the most need.
