These policies subsidized white Americans and immigrants, giving them opportunities for jobs marginalizing citizens. Jim Crow and Black Codes are examples of dejurie affirmative action that did not allow Americans to interact with the economy their ancestors created. These policies did not end with the Civil Rights Acts of the 1960s.
