We specialize in reaching communities that face significant barriers to
accessing healthcare: nearly all our clients are low-income, most identify as ethnic minorities, and many
are immigrants. Our Community Health Access Program provides these underserved communities with
practical assistance and trustworthy advice, helping them obtain health coverage and social service
benefits while triaging immediate needs with referrals to local partners. However, our services do not
stop there: the program is designed to ensure that low-income Orange County residents understand
their health coverage, are able to locate a culturally and linguistically appropriate primary care provider,
can make and attend appointments, and remember to renew their coverage annually.
This year, CHIOC is preparing to help a new population enroll in Medi-Cal for the first time. Low-income
adults between the ages of 26 and 49, regardless of immigration status, will be eligible for the program
beginning in 2024. This opens the door for thousands of uninsured Santa Ana residents to gain access to
preventative care, mental health care, and treatments for chronic health conditions, rather than relying
on emergency departments. Already a trusted presence with deep roots in Santa Ana, CHIOC is uniquely
positioned to help Santa Ana residents navigate Medi-Cal enrollment and utilization in 2024.
EXHIBIT A
