0
PS &E package submittal will include original mylars, all
quantity calculations, the utility contact file and the
electronic CAD files on diskette.
Construction Staging and Traffic Control Plans:
Construction staging and traffic control are part of any
successfully project. Attention to detail and awareness
of the daily access requirements of the community, bus
routes and access to properties along the project are
essential to develop a workable traffic control plan. We
are sensitive to the concerns of the existing property
owners and the necessity to provide access for
emergency vehicles and maintain near - normal traffic
flow along the project during peak hours. ASL has
prepared numerous traffic control plans for projects of
this nature and are confident that our work will provide
the City with the staging and traffic control necessary to
provide an adequate level of service during construction
and maintain safe vehicular and pedestrian traffic
through the project, as well as a safe work area for the
construction workers. Construction staging and traffic
control plans will be prepared at 1" = 40' scale (1:500
metric), double stacked, on 24" x 36" sheets for the
project.
Landscape and Irrigation Plans: Our subconsultant,
Lynn Capouya, Inc., will perform the following typical
tasks related to landscape, irrigation and hardscape plans
and details:
• Prepare landscape and irrigation plans in
Microstation format at 1:250 metric scale for clarity
of symbols.
• Match the planting and median hardscape details of
the existing roadway.
• Prepare a landscape concept plan for City approval.
• Field verification and documentation of existing
trees will be included. We will attempt to retain
mature specimens.
• Agronomic soils testing is not included in this scope
of work.
• Median hardscape details will be prepared to match
City projects.
• Point of connections for water and power will be
designated in the irrigation design.
Tasks II -4 and II -9 — Preliminary and Final
Specifications and Special Provisions
The Standard Specifications and Standard Plans for
Public Works Construction, 1997 edition, and City
standards will be used for this project. ASL will prepare
10
draft and final specifications and special provisions to
cover items of work not addressed by these standard
specifications for the PS &E package. Specifications and
special provisions will be provided to the City with the
final PS &E package submittal on diskette in Microsoft
Word or WordPerfect format.
Tasks II -5 and H -10 — Preliminary and Final
Construction Cost Estimates
ASL will prepare preliminary and final construction
cost estimates with quantities and unit prices for the
PS &E package. Preliminary cost estimates will be
provided at the 65% and 95% submittals, and a final
cost estimate (Engineer's Estimate) will be provided
with submittal of the final approved plans. Back -up
of cost estimate calculations showing quantities per
sheet will be provided to the City for review with
each submittal.
Tasks II -11— Incorporate Comments and Submit
Final PS &E Package
After incorporating review comments from the second
plan check for the plans, specifications and cost
estimates, ASL will submit sealed original ink on mylar
plan sheets and digital engineering plans and drawings
on diskettes in Microstation; sealed original hard copy
and diskette in Microsoft Word or WordPerfect format
of the technical specifications; the utility response file.
and calculations and notes generated by the project.
4 L\prop99 \p283ii.doc 11 - 5 ASL CONSULTING ENGINEERS
