ORDINANCE NO. NS-1y6 AMENDING THE SANTA ANA ELECTRICAL CODE <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1. That the Santa Arm Electrtml~odels hereby amended <br />by amending Section 16, Sub-section H thereof, and Section 25, Sub- <br />section J thereof to read as follows: <br /> <br /> SECTION 16. <br /> <br /> "H. Galvanized or sheradized rigid metal conduit shall <br /> <br /> be required in concrete or masonry floors and walls, under- <br /> ground and outside of buildings, or where exposed to the <br /> weather. Other types of conduit or external insulating mater- <br /> ial on cable may be used when the same has been determined to be <br /> equal to or better than .the rigid metal conduit herein required <br /> by the decision of the Deputy Building Inspector and approved <br /> by the Director of the Department of Building and Safety." <br /> <br /> SECTION 25. <br /> <br /> "J. Each and every livable room shall have at least one <br /> general lighting outlet rated not less than required elsewhere <br /> in this Code. In closets, other than wardrobes with sliding <br /> or swinging doors, the lighting outlet shall be placed on the <br /> wall over the door, or may be located on the ceiling if operated <br /> by a wall switch, door switch or ceiling pull switch. Drop <br /> cord shall not be installed in closets. Living rooms and bed- <br /> rooms may be excepted provided one (1) or more outlmts required <br /> as convenience outlets are provided and controlled by an access- <br /> ible wall switch. Provided, however, closets having a width of <br /> not more than twenty-seven inches (27") nor a length of more than <br /> <br /> (36") may be exempt from having a lighting <br /> <br />thirty-six inches <br />outlet." <br /> <br /> SECTION 2. The <br /> <br /> Clerk of the Council shall certify to the <br />passage of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published <br />within l~ days after its adoption, in one issue of the Santa Ana <br />Independent.
