ORDINANCE NO. NS-545 AMENDING SECTION 6200.55.A <br />AND REPEALING SECTION 9378 OF THE SANTA ANA <br />MUNICIPAL CODE <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS <br /> <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. That Section 6101 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code <br /> <br />is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />SECTION 6101. License Fees Imposed. <br /> <br /> Every person who shall c~,,~Lence or carry on any <br />business, show, exhibition, game or activity specified <br />in this Article as subject to a license fee provided <br />for herein, shall be required to pay the same as a tax <br />due to the City. The license fees provided for in this <br />Article and required to be paid hereby are assessed <br />pursuant to the taxing power of the City and solely for <br />the purpose of producing revenue. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. That Section 6118 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code <br /> <br />is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />SECTION 6118. Police Officers to Report. <br /> <br /> Ail police officers are hereby appointed inspectors <br />of licenses and are required to examine all places of <br />business and persons in their respective beats who may <br />be subject to the payment of license fees, to see that <br />such licenses have been taken out and the tax imposed <br />has been paid. Ail police officers shall have the right <br />to enter free of charge any place of business and at any <br />time while the same is occupied, open to the public, or <br />being used by persons or employees as a place of work <br />to determine whether or not such place is subject to the <br />payment of license fees imposed by this Article and to <br />demand exhibition of the license tax receipt for the <br />current taxing period. <br /> <br /> Such police officers shall make out, during January, <br />May and September of each year, a list of all persons <br />carrying on any business or activity without having paid <br />the tax therefor imposed by this Article which have co~e <br />to their attention during the precedt~g~ four months, <br />and shall deliver the same to the Director of Finance, <br />and shall report from time to time such failure to pay <br />license taxes as may come to their attention. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. That Section 6200.55.A. of the Santa Ana <br /> <br />Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />SECTION 6200.55.A. subdivision of Land. <br /> <br /> The business of subdividing land, regardless of the <br />number of lots into which a parcel of land is divided, <br />shall be subject to a business tax or license fee based <br />upon the number of such lots created at the per lot <br />rate of $50.00 <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
