ORDINANCE NO. NS-545 AMENDING SECTION 6200.55.A AND REPEALING SECTION 9378 OF THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That Section 6101 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 6101. License Fees Imposed. Every person who shall c~,,~Lence or carry on any business, show, exhibition, game or activity specified in this Article as subject to a license fee provided for herein, shall be required to pay the same as a tax due to the City. The license fees provided for in this Article and required to be paid hereby are assessed pursuant to the taxing power of the City and solely for the purpose of producing revenue. SECTION 2. That Section 6118 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 6118. Police Officers to Report. Ail police officers are hereby appointed inspectors of licenses and are required to examine all places of business and persons in their respective beats who may be subject to the payment of license fees, to see that such licenses have been taken out and the tax imposed has been paid. Ail police officers shall have the right to enter free of charge any place of business and at any time while the same is occupied, open to the public, or being used by persons or employees as a place of work to determine whether or not such place is subject to the payment of license fees imposed by this Article and to demand exhibition of the license tax receipt for the current taxing period. Such police officers shall make out, during January, May and September of each year, a list of all persons carrying on any business or activity without having paid the tax therefor imposed by this Article which have co~e to their attention during the precedt~g~ four months, and shall deliver the same to the Director of Finance, and shall report from time to time such failure to pay license taxes as may come to their attention. SECTION 3. That Section 6200.55.A. of the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 6200.55.A. subdivision of Land. The business of subdividing land, regardless of the number of lots into which a parcel of land is divided, shall be subject to a business tax or license fee based upon the number of such lots created at the per lot rate of $50.00 -1-
