ORDINANCE NS-787 AMENDING SECTIONS 2250, 2267, <br />AND 2268 OF THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE TO <br />PROVIDE SEVEN (7) HOLIDAYS PER YEAR FOR <br />MISCELLANEOUS F/~LOYEES <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That Sections 2250., 2267., and 2268. of Chapter <br />Article II of the Santa Ana Municipal Code are hereby amended to <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 2250. A~endance, Hours and Leave. <br /> Eight hours of work shall constitute a normal work day <br />and fort~ hours of work shall constitute a minimum work <br />week, except for employees for whom special regulations have <br />been approved by the Council. Employees shall be in <br />attendance at their work during prescribed hours and shall <br />not absent themselves during prescribed hours without <br />approval of the department head. A continuous twenty-four <br />hour period beginning at the time an employee reports at <br />his place of work is a "work day". A continuous twenty-three <br />hour period beginning at the time an employee leaves his <br />place of work and during which he does not report for work <br />is a scheduled day off or "day of leave". <br /> Leave is absence from place of work without loss of pay <br />and is classified as follows: <br /> <br />A. Vacation Leave. <br />B. Extra Vacation Leave. <br />C. Sick Leave. <br />D. Holiday Leave. <br />E. Temporary Military Leave. <br />F. Jury or Witness Leave. <br />G. Examination Leave. <br />H. Rest Leave. <br /> <br /> Every continuous twenty-three hour period beginning at <br />the time an employee leaves his place of work and during <br />which he does not report for work, which is without loss of <br />pay and which is not classified as leave under A through G, <br />as hereinabove set out, is a "day of rest leave". An <br />absence from place of work for which the employee's pay is <br />proportionately reduced, sometimes known as "leave without <br />pay", shall not be classified as leave, but shall be known <br />as an "authorized absence without pay". <br /> <br />Section 2267. Holidays. <br /> Legal holidays observed by City employees shall be <br />January 1, February 22, May 30, July 4, the first Monday in <br />September, December 25, Good Friday from 12 noon to 3 P.M., <br />ri~nanksgiving Day and every day proclaimed by the Mayor as a <br />holiday for City employees. Any holiday which falls on <br />Sunday will be observed on the following Monday. Any <br />holiday which falls on a Saturday shall be observed in <br />accordance with a schedule to be determined by the depart- <br />ment head in order to allow public offices to remain open <br />on the Friday preceding the holiday. <br /> <br />Section 2268. Holidays, Shift Personnel. <br /> Full-time employees whose regularly scheduled days off <br />are other than Saturday and Sunday shall be entitled to <br />holiday benefits as provided in Section 2267 to be scheduled <br />by the department head.
