ORDINANCE NS-793 ADOPTING BY REFERENCE CERTAIN <br />CODES KNOWN AS THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, 1964 <br />EDITION, VOLUME I AND VOLUME III, THE WESTERN <br />PLUMBING OFFICIALS UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE, 1964 <br />EDITION, THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE 1962, <br />UNIFORM HOUSING CODE, 1964 EDITION, AND WESTERN <br />PLUMBING OFFICIALS UNIFORM HEATING AND COMFORT <br />COOLING CODE, 1964 EDITION, REPEALING CERTAIN <br />PORTIONS OF THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE, AND <br />READOPTING CHAPTERS 1, 2, AND 3 OF ARTICLE VIII <br />OF THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE TO AMEND CERTAIN <br />PORTIONS OF THE CODES HEREBY ADOPTED AND TO MAKE <br />CERTAIN ADDITIONS THERETO <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1: That Section 3816 of Part 1, Chapter 8, of Article III <br />and Chapters 1, 2, and 3 of Article VIII of the Santa Aha Municipal <br />Code are hereby repealed. <br /> <br />SECTION 2: That Article VIII of the Santa Aha Municipal code is <br />hereby amended by adding Section 8000 and new Chapters 1, 2, and 3 <br />at the beginning thereof to read as follows: <br /> <br />SECTION 8000. Application and Scope. <br /> Under the provisions of Section 19825(a), Chapter 9, Part 3, <br />Division 13, Health and Safety Code, State of California, the <br />regulations adopted in the following chapters are determined to <br />provide restrictions equal to or greater than those promulgated <br />by and pursuant to Division 13, Health and Safety Code, State of <br />California, relating to apartment houses, hotels and dwellings. <br /> <br />CHAPTER 1 - BUILDING CODE <br /> <br />SECTION 8100. Adoption of the Uniform Buildinq Code, 1964 Edition. <br /> There is hereby adopted by the City that certain code known as <br />the UNIFORM BUILDING CODE, 1964 EDITION - VOLUME I and VOLUME III <br />and the whole thereof, save and except such portions as are herein- <br />after amended, of which Code not less than three (3) copies have <br />been and are on file in the office of the Clerk of the Council of <br />the City, and said Building Code is hereby adopted and incorporated <br />as fully as if set forth at length herein as provided for in <br />Section 419 of the Charter of the City of Santa Ana, and frc~a the <br />date on which this Chapter shall take effect the provisions thereof, <br />subject to the amendments hereinafter set forth, shall be in effect <br />within the City Limits, and this Code shall be known as the BUILDING <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA. <br /> <br />SECTION 8101. Fire Zones Created. <br /> The entire incorporated area of the City is hereby established <br />as a Fire District, and said Fire District is hereby divided into <br />three zones to be designated as Fire Zones 1, 2, and 3. Fire Zone <br />No. 1 and Fire Zone No. 2 shall contain territory as set out in <br />Sections 8101.1 and 8101.2, respectively, and Fire Zone No. 3 shall <br />include all territory within the City which lies outside of Fire <br />Zones No. 1 and No. 2. <br /> The City Council hereby officially adopts that certain map <br />entitled FIRE ZONES OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, and the <br />Clerk of the Council is hereby directed to file the same with the <br />original copy of this Ordinance for public inspection and reference. <br />Said map and the descriptions of Fire Zones No. 1 and No. 2 are <br />established and shall regulate the type of buildings permitted <br />within their respective areas and shall have the restrictions as <br />provided for in the Uniform Building Code in effect within the City <br />and shall have application wherever any ordinance of the City shall <br />refer to the Fire Zones of the City. <br /> <br /> <br />
