ORDINANCE NS-866 PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING OF A <br />GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION IN THE CITY OF SANTA <br />ANA, CALIFORNIA, ON THE 4TH DAY OF APRIL, 1967, <br />FOR THE ELECTION OF THREE MEMBERS OF THE CITY <br />COUNCIL AND TWO MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, <br />GIVING NOTICE OF SAID ELECTION, DESIGNATING <br />POLLING PLACES, HOURS DURING WHICH THE POLLS <br />SHALL BE OPEN, AND APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICERS <br />TO SERVE AT SAID ELECTION <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That a general Municipal Election is hereby <br />called to be held in the City of Santa Ana, California, on <br />April 4th, 1967. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2. That there shall be 84 voting precincts, <br />several of which are single State and County precincts re- <br />numbered for said Election and the rest of which consist of <br />consolidations of two or more State and County precincts, all <br />consisting of territory within the City of Santa Ana except <br />Precinct No. 22, which includes territory outside of the City <br />of Santa Ana, the same being portions of Costa Mesa No. 027, <br />Delhi No. 002, Diamond No. 004, Newport Beach No. 064, and <br />Paularino No. 061, and such territory outside of the City of <br />Santa Ana is included for the purpose of voting on two members <br />of the Board of Education only. <br /> <br /> SECTION 3: That the Precinct Board of each precinct shall <br />consist of one Inspector, one Judge, and two Clerks; and that <br />said Precinct Officers shall receive the following compensation <br />for their services: Inspectors, $21.00; Judges and Clerks, <br />$18.00; owners of privately owned polling places shall receive <br />the sum of $15.00 for the use of each polling place. <br /> <br /> That the consolidated voting precincts, the polling places <br />thereof, and the Precinct Board for each such precinct shall be <br />as set out on that certain document headed "ELECTION OFFICERS <br />AND POLLING PLACES" on file in the office of the Clerk of the <br />Council, and the Boards of each such voting precinct are hereby <br />appointed. The Clerk of the Council is hereby authorized to <br />find and appoint substitutes for any election officer hereby <br />appointed who is unable or unwilling to act. <br /> <br /> SECTION 4: That said Election shall be held and conducted <br />in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of <br />Santa Ana, the Constitution of the State of California, and the <br />provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California <br />insofar as the same may be applicable thereto. On the day of <br />the Election the polls shall be opened at 7:00 A.M. and shall <br />be kept open until 7:00 P.M., at which time the polls shall be <br />closed. The Clerk of the Council shall prepare and cause to <br />be published a NOTICE OF ELECTION for one time; a list of names <br />of the nominees in the order in which they will appear on the <br />Ballot and the respective offices for which they are nominated <br />once a week for two successive weeks, at least 5 intervening <br />days between the dates of publication; and a notice of election <br />officers and polling places for one time. <br /> <br /> SECTION 5: The Clerk of the Council shall prepare and <br />cause to be printed official ballots and election supplies <br />necessary for the holding of said Election as required by law, <br />and sample ballots and polling place cards, and shall provide <br />for the mailing of the same to each registered elector within <br />the City, and shall mail sample ballots and polling place cards <br />to those electors in the Santa Aha School Districts but outside <br />of the City. <br /> <br /> <br />
