of one penalty for any violation shall not excuse the <br />violation or permit it to continue; and all such <br />persons shall be required to correct or remedy such <br />violations or defects within a reasonable time; and <br />when not otherwise specified, each day that prohibited <br />conditions are maintained shall constitute a separate <br />offense. <br /> <br />9. REPEAL OF CONFLICTING ORDINANCES. <br /> <br />The application of the above penalty shall not be held <br />to prevent the enforced removal of prohibited conditions.i <br /> <br /> Ail former ordinances or parts thereof conflicting or <br />inconsistent with the provisions of The Fire Code are <br />hereby repealed. <br /> <br />10. VALIDITY. <br /> <br /> The City Council hereby declares that should any <br />section, paragraph, sentence, or word of this Chapter or <br />of the Fire Code hereby adopted be declared to be invalid, <br />it is the intent of the City Council that it would have <br />passed all other portions of this Chapter independent of <br />the elimination herefrom of any such portion as may be <br />declared invalid. <br /> <br />Part 4--Appendix G <br /> <br />SECTION 31~0. Amendment of the Uniform Fire Coder 1966 Edition. <br /> <br /> The Uniform Fire Code adopted in Part 1 of this Chapter is <br />amended in the following manner: <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />Section 1.24. BOARD OF APPEALS. is amended to read as <br />follows: <br /> To provide for reasonable interpretations of the pro- <br />visions of this Code, there shall be and hereby is created <br />a Board of Appeals, consisting of five members who are <br />qualified by experience and training to pass upon pertinent <br />matters. The Chief of the Fire Department shall be an <br />ex officio member and shall act as Secretary of the Board. <br />The Board of Appeals shall be appointed by the City Council <br />and shall hold office at their pleasure. The Board shall <br />adopt reasonable rules and regulations for conducting its <br />investigations and shall render all decisions and findings <br />in writing to the Chief o2 the Fire Department with a <br />duplicate copy to the appellant and may recommend to the <br />City Council such new legislation as is consistent therewith. <br /> <br />(2) Section 1.54. ~. is amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Magazine shall mean any building or structure used for <br /> the storage of explosives. <br />Magnesium shall mean the pure metal and alloys of which <br /> the major part is magnesium. <br />M.C.A. shall mean Manufacturing Chemists Association. <br /> <br />Marine Service Station shall mean that portion of a <br /> property including all facilities used in connection <br /> therewith, where flammable liquids used as motor fuels <br /> are stored and dispensed from fixed equipment on shore, <br /> piers, wharves, or floating docks into the fuel tanks <br /> of motor crafts. <br />Municipality as used in this Code shall mean the City of <br /> Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> <br />
