ORDINANCE NS-991 AMENDING THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL <br />CODE BY ADDING SECTION 9260.9 TO PART 6, CHAPTER 2, <br />ARTICLE IX THEREOF PERTAINING TO NON-CONFORMING <br />JUIqK AND AUTO SALVAGE YARDS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has formally recommended <br />to this Body that an amendment be made to that portion of the <br />Santa Ana Municipal Code concerning non-conforming buildings and <br />uses; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council has approved and adopted said <br />recommendation as its own; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code <br />amended by adding Section 9260.9 to Part 6, Chapter <br />thereof to read in words and figures, as follows: <br /> <br />is hereby <br />2, Article IX <br /> <br />Section <br /> (a) <br /> <br />9260.9. Np_n-conforming Junk and Auto Salvage Yards. <br />All junk or salvage yards situated in Residential, <br />Commercial, or Light Industrial Districts shall be <br />screened from adjacent properties and public streets <br />by a solid wall or fence with solid gates to a height <br />of not less than eight (8) feet, nor more than ten (10) <br />feet. Further, the storage of wrecked vehicles and <br />salvage materials shall not be piled higher than the <br />wall or fence around such storage or work area. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />Ail junk or salvage yards in the Heavy Industrial <br />District shall be screened from adjacent properties <br />and public streets by a solid wall or fence with <br />solid gates to a height of not less than eight (8) <br />feet, nor more than twelve (12) feet. Further, the <br />storage of wrecked vehicles and salvage materials <br />shall not be piled higher than the wall or fence <br />within the front twenty-five (25) feet of the yard <br />along adjacent properties and public streets, and <br />stacks elsewhere on the site shall be no higher <br />than fifteen (15) feet. <br /> <br />(c) <br /> <br />Solid fences or walls shall be constructed of any <br />combination of masonry, brick, metal or wood with <br />the approval of the Planning Department and shall <br />be continuously maintained. <br /> <br />(d) <br /> <br />No salvage materials, wrecked automobiles, or <br />automobiles purchased for salvage shall be permitted <br />to remain outside the solid fences or walls surround- <br />ing the junk and auto salvage yards. <br /> <br />(e) <br /> <br />Ail legal but non-conforming junk and auto salvage <br />yards may continue, provided that they conform to the <br />operational standards required in this Section within <br />six (6) months from the effective date of this <br />ordinance. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: That this Ordinance shall take effect thirty days <br />from and after the date of its adoption. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa <br />Ana at its regular meeting held on the 1st d~em~er, 1969. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> YoR <br />CLERK OF THE CObNCIL <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
