No owner shall transfer any dog tag from <br />one dog to another and no person shall place a dog tag upon <br />any dog except the dog for which it was issued. <br /> <br />Sec. 5-53. Same. Record. <br /> <br /> The Finance Department and the Animal Control Man shall <br />keep a record of the license tags issued, which record shall <br />contain a brief description and the name of the dog and the <br />name and address of the owner. <br /> <br />Sec. 5-54. Vaccination: Required Before Licensing. <br /> Neither the Finance Department, the Animal Control Man, nor <br />any other person shall issue any license for any dog unless and <br />until such dog has been vaccinated as herein defined and the <br />owner or person seeking such a license shall produce for inspec- <br />tion a certificate from a licensed veterinarian showing vaccina- <br />tion within the preceding twenty-four (24) months, which certi- <br />ficate may be accepted as proof of vaccination. Any dog may <br />be exempt from vaccination and license issued therefor withoutsuch <br />proof upon presentation of an affidavit sworn to within sixty <br />(60) days preceding the application for license by a veterinarian <br />licensed to practice and actually practicing in the State, <br />stating that, in his opinion, the rabies vaccination would be <br />likely to seriously injure the dog described therein. No person <br />shall allow any dog so exempted from rabies vaccination to be at <br />large or be let about the streets on a leash at any time, and <br />such dog must be restricted to the securely enclosed yard of the <br />owner. <br /> <br />Sec. 5-55. Same. Possession of Unvaccinated Dog. <br /> No person shall keep, harbor, or maintain upon his premises <br />within the city of Santa Ana, or have title to any dog over <br />four (4) months of age in the City which has not been vaccinated <br />as herein required, except as otherwise herein provided. <br /> <br />Sec. 5-56. Restraint of Biting Dog: May be Ordered. <br /> The animal Control Man may order any dog which has bitten <br />any person to be kept securely confined in the rear of the owner's <br />premises for a period of fourteen (14) days from the date of <br />such bite. <br /> <br />Sec. 5-57. Same: Allowing Escape. <br /> No person shall allow any dog which has been ordered to be <br />kept securely confined in the rear of the owner's premises for <br />a period of fourteen (14) days, as provided in Section 5-56, to <br />escape from said premises, to be at large, or to come in contact <br />with other animals or with people during said period. <br /> <br />-8- <br /> <br /> <br />
