ORDINANCE NS-1028 OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, ORDERING, CALLING, <br />PROVIDING FOR AND GIVING NOTICE OF A SPECIAL <br />ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON NOVEMBE]~ 3, <br />1970, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE <br />QUALIFIED VOTERS OF SAID CITY CHARTER AMENDMENTS <br />RELATING TO MEETINGS OF THE PERSONNEL BOARD, <br />PRE-REQUISITES TO APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT <br />WITH THE cITY OF SANTA ANA, AND COMPENSATION FOR <br />CITY COUNCILMEN AND FOR THE MAYOR, AND CONSOLI- <br />DATING SAID ELECTION WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL <br />ELECTION TO BE HELD ON SAID DATE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana is of <br />the opinion that Article IV of the Charter of the City of Santa <br />Ana should be amended to increase the salary of each councilman <br />for such service to the sum of $400.00 per month and to increase <br />the additional salary payable to the councilman elected by the <br />Council as Mayor to $400.00, said salary increases, however, to <br />be effective only as to the successors to those councilmen and <br />Mayor now in office; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana is of <br />the opinion that Article IX of the Charter of the City of Santa <br />Ana should be amended to permit the Personnel Board to meet <br />monthly only in the event there is business on its agenda, but <br />in no event to meet less often than quarterly; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana is of <br />the opinion that Article X of the Charter of the City of Santa <br />Ana should be amended to delete the requirement that a%aiver of <br />residence requirements for applicants for employment with the <br />City of Santa Ana receive the approval of the Personnel Board and <br />that a declaration be made by the City Manager of a reason for <br />such residence waiver; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, these issues should be resolved by a vote cf the <br />electorate of the City; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, <br />California, does hereby resolve, declare, determine and order as <br />follows: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That a special election be held and the same is <br />hereby called to be held in the City of Santa Ana on November 3, <br />1970, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of said <br />city certain charter amendments hereinafter set forth, relating to <br />meetings of the Personnel Board, pre-requisites to application for <br />employment with the City of Santa Aha, and compensation for City <br />councilmen and for the mayor. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Charter Amendments submitted to the <br />voters shall be as follows: <br /> <br />Shall Article IV of the Charter of the City : : <br />of Santa Ana be amended to increase the : YES : <br />compensation paid to city councilmen from : : <br />$125.00 per month to $400.00 per month, and : : <br />the additional salary of the mayor be in- : : <br />creased from the present $75.00 per month : : <br />to $400.00 per month, said increase' to be : : <br />effective only as to the successors to those : NO : <br />councilmen and mayor now in office? : : <br /> <br />- 1 - <br /> <br /> <br />
