ORDINANCE NS-1044 AMENDING ARTICLE VI OF CHAPTER <br />9 OF THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING <br />SECTION 9-135 THEREOF PERTAINING TO HOLIDAYS <br /> <br /> WI{EREAS, the Federal Government and the State of california <br />have adopted legislatiOn which will provide for certain holidays <br />to be celebrated on a specified Monday rather than the traditional <br />holiday date; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is recommended that the city of Santa Ana adopt <br />similar legislation; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That Article VI of Chapter 9 of the Santa Ana <br />Municipal code is hereby amended by amending Section 9-135 <br />thereof to read in words and figures, as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 9-135. ~olidays--Re~ular Employees. <br /> Legal holidays observed by city employees shall be <br />January 1, the third Monday in February in memory of <br />George Washington's birthday, the last Monday in May in <br />commemoration of Memorial Day, July 4, the first Monday <br />in September, the fourth Monday in October in observance <br />of Veterans' Day, December 25, Thanksgiving Day and every <br />day proclaimed by the Mayor as a holiday for city <br />employees. Any holiday which falls on Sunday will be <br />observed on the following Monday. Any holiday which <br />falls on a Saturday shall be observed in accordance with <br />a schedule to be determined by the department head in <br />order to allow public offices to remain open on ~e Friday <br />preceding the holiday. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: That the provisions of this Ordinance shall be <br />in effect from and after the first day of January, 1971. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa <br />Ana at its regular meeting held on the 19th day of October, 1970. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />MAYOR <br /> <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA ) <br />COUNTY OF ORANGE ) SS <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA ) <br /> <br /> I, FLORENCE I.
