ORDINANCE NS 1092 OF THE CITY OF SANTA Ah%A, CALIFORNIA <br />FIXING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY ASCERTAINED TO FINANCE <br />OPERATING AND CAPITAL EXPENDITUP~ COSTS OF THE VARIOUS <br />DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY, AND TO PAY THE BONDED INDEBTED- <br />NESS FALLING DUE FOR THE CURRENT FISCAL YEAR 1971-72 <br />FIXING THE RATE OF TAXATION FOR SAID CURRENT FISCAL YEAR, <br />AND DESIGNATING THE NUMBER OF CENTS OF TAX ON EACH <br />$100o00 OF ASSESSED VALUE FOR THE VARIOUS FUNDS OF SAID <br />CITY HEREBY LEVIED ON THE WHOLE OF THE TAXABLE PROPERTY <br />IN SAID CITY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, heretofore, on the 28th day of December, 1914, the City <br />of 8anta Aha did elect to avail itself of the provisions of State Law <br />providing that assessment of property and collection of taxes might be <br />done for cities by the county in which the city was located; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 600 of the Charter of <br />the City of Santa Ana, the county system of assessment and tax collec- <br />tion shall continue to be used unless otherwise provided by ordinance; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Auditor of the County of Orange has informed the <br />City of Santa Ana that his office has made a tentative determination <br />showing the total value of all property within the corporate limits <br />for the fiscal year 1971-72 and fixed said sum for said fiscal year <br />at $386,971,982.00, exclusive of operative property belonging to <br />public utilities, and showing the total value of all property belong- <br />ing to public utilities and used as operative property within the <br />corporate limits of the said City for said fiscal year as tentatively <br />determined by the Board of Equalization of the State of California <br />to be $22,854,820.00, which said amounts make a total assessed <br />valuation for tax purposes within the City of Santa Ana of the sum of <br />$409,826,802.00. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES <br />ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That the total valuation of the taxable property <br />of the City of Santa Ana of $409,826,802.00 shall be used as a basis <br />for the levy of the taxes of said City at the same time and in the <br />same manner in which the County of Orange levies are made and collected. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: That the City Council of the City of Santa Ana does <br />hereby levy a tax for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1971, and <br />ending June 30, 1972 for the purpose of financing the operating and <br />capital expenditure costs of the various departments, to pay the bonded <br />indebtedness and interest, to pay the amounts due the State Employees' <br />Retirement System, to maintain the library, to operate the recreation <br />and parks program, and fixes the rate thereof at $1.3500 on each <br />$100.00 of assessed value of all property within the City of Santa Ana <br />except as to payment on bonded indebtedness, which tax hereby levied <br />shall not apply to those areas expressly excluded hereinbelow, and <br />apportions said amount among the various funds and purposes as follows: <br /> <br /> For the GENERAL FUND, $0.7800 on each $100.00 of the taxable <br />property in said City; <br /> <br /> For the LIBRARY FUND, $0.1800 on each $100.00 of the taxable <br />property in said City; <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
