ORDINANCE NS-1099 AMENDING SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE <br />S38-8 REDUCING UNINSURED MOTORISTS PROTECTION FROM <br />$100,000/300,000 TO $15,000/30,000, AND INCREASING <br />PROPERTY DAMAGE FROM $10,000 TO $100,000 <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1. That Section 38-8 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code <br />is hereby amended to read in words and figures as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 38-8. Liability Insurance <br /> <br /> No person shall operate any ambulance, motor bus, or taxicab <br />in the city unless there is in full force and effect a liability <br />insurance policy issued by an insurance company authorized to do <br />business in the state, for each authorized vehicle so operated, <br />insuring the owner and driver of such vehicle against loss by <br />reason of injury or damage which may result to persons or property <br />from the negligent operation of such vehicle, in the amount of <br />one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) for bodily injury <br />to any one person, in the amount of three hundred thousand dollars <br />($300,000.00) for bodily injury to more than one person which are <br />sustained in the same accident, and one hundred thousand dollars <br />($100,000.00) for property damage resulting from any one accident, <br />and providing passenger protection coverage against uninsured motor- <br />ists with limits of liability of fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00) <br />for each person and thirty thousand dollars ($30,000.00) for each <br />accident, and providing passenger medical reimbursement with limit <br />of liability of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) for each person. <br />Said insurance policy or policies, together with a statement from <br />the company writing same that the city will be notified in writing <br />twenty (20) days before the date of any cancellation of such policy <br />shall be filed with the clerk of the council. A certificate show- <br />ing such insurance to be in force may be filed, instead of the <br />original policy. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: That the Clerk of the Council shall certify to <br />the passage of this Ordinance and cause the same to be published in <br />some daily newspaper printed and published in the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> SECTION 3: That this Ordinance shall take effect thirty days <br />from and after the date of its adoption, except as herein specifi- <br />cally provided. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa <br />Ana at its regular meeting held on the 6th day of December <br />1971. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br />MAYOR <br /> <br />- 1 - <br /> <br /> <br />
