ORDINANCE NS-l177 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NS-1177 OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA <br />FIXING THE AMOUNT OF MONEY ASCERTAINED TO FINANCE OPER- <br />ATING AND CAPITAL EXPENDITURE COSTS OF THE VARIOUS DE- <br />PARTMENTS OF THE CITY, AND TO PAY THE BONDED INDEBTEDNESS <br />FALLING DUE FOR THE CURRENT FISCAL YEAR 1973-74 FIXING <br />THE RATE OF TAXATION FOR SAID CURRENT FISCAL YEAR, AND <br />DESIGNATING THE NUMBER OF CENTS OF TAX ON EACH $100.00 OF <br />ASSESSED VALUE FOR THE VARIOUS FUNDS OF SAID CITY HEREBY <br />LEVIED ON THE WHOLE OF THE TAXABLE PROPERTY IN SAID CITY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, heretofore, on the 28th day of December, 1914, the <br />City of Santa Ana did elect to avail itself of the provisions of <br />State Law providing that assessment of property and collection of <br />taxes might be done for cities by the county in which the city was <br />located; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 600 of the Charter of <br />the City of Santa Ana, the county system of assessment and tax col- <br />lection shall continue to be used unless otherwise provided by <br />ordinance; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Auditor of the ODunty of Orange has informed the <br />City of Santa Ana that his office has made a tentative determin- <br />ation showing the total value of all property within the corporate <br />limits for the fiscal year 1973-74 and fixed said sum for said fiscal <br />year at $478,037,863.00, exclusive of operative property belonging <br />to public utilities, and showing the total value of all property <br />belonging to public utilities and used as operative property within <br />the corporate limits of the said City for said fiscal year as tenta- <br />tively determined by the Board of Equalization of the State of <br />California to be $24,000,000.00, which said amounts make a total <br />assessed valuation for tax purposes within the City of Santa Ana <br />of the sum of $502,037,863.00. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES <br />ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That the total valuation of the taxable property <br />of the City of Santa Ana of $502,037,863.00 shall be used as a basis <br />for the levy of the taxes of said City at the same time and in the <br />same manner in which the County of Orange levies are made and col- <br />lected. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: That the City Council of the City of Santa Ana does <br />hereby levy a tax for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1973, and <br />ending June 30, 1974 for the purpose of financing the operating and <br />capital expenditure costs of the various departments, to pay the <br />bonded indebtedness and interest, to pay the amounts due the State <br />Employees' Retirement System, to maintain the library, to operate <br />the recreation and parks program, and fixes the rate thereof at <br />$1.3500 on each $100.00 of assessed value of all property within the <br />City of Santa Ana except as to payment on bonded indebtedness, which <br />tax hereby levied shall not apply to those areas expressly excluded <br />hereinbelow, and apportions said a/~ount among the various funds and <br />purposes as follows: <br /> <br /> For the GENERAL FUND, $0.6350 on each $100.00 of the taxable <br />property in said City; <br /> <br /> For the LIBRARY FUND, $0.1800 on each $100.00 of the taxable <br />property in said City; <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
