ORDINANCE NO. NS-123? <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA AMENDING SECTIONS 38-1, 38-2, 38-3 <br />28-20, 38-20a, 38-38, 38-39, 38-40 AND 21-72 OF <br />THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE, REPEALING SECTIONS <br />38-2a OF THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE, AND ADDING <br />SECTIONS 38-'1.1 THROUGH. 38-1.27 AND SECTIONS 38-3.1 <br />THROUGH 38-3.20 AND SECTION 38-8a TO THE-SANTA ANA <br />MUNICIPAL CODE, PERTAINING TO THE REGULATION OF <br />VEHICLES FOR HIRE AND TO THE DEFINITIONS OF TERMS, <br />THE APPLICATION FOR AND ISSUANCE OF CERTIFICATES, <br />THE INSPECTION OF VEHICLES AND THE PERMIT FEES AS <br />PROVIDED IN SUCH REGULATIONS <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF'SANTA ANA' DOES ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION l: Section 38-1 of the Santa Aha Municipal Code <br />is hereby ameSded to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 38-l. Definitions. <br /> <br /> For purposes of this chapter, the words and. phrases set <br />forth in sections 38-1.1 throu'gh 38-1.27 shall have the meanings <br />respectively ascribed to them by such sections. <br /> <br /> SECT)ON ~: Sections 38-1.1 through 38-1.27 are hereby <br />added to the Santa Aha Municipal Code to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 38, I.1. Ambulance. <br /> <br /> "Ambulance" shall mean any <br />or used for transporting the wounded, <br />shall.include, but not'be limited to, <br />for such purposes. <br /> <br />SeC~ 38-1.2. Certificate. <br /> <br />privately-owned vehicle equipped <br /> injured, sick or dead, and <br /> emergency vehicles used <br /> <br /> "Certificate" shall mean a certi~ica.te of public, convenience <br />and necessity issued by the City of Santa Ana authorizing the <br />holder thereof to conduct an ambulance, motorbus, taxicab, or <br />other, vehicle for hire business in the city. <br /> <br /> Sec. 38-1.3. Chief of police. <br /> <br /> "Chief of police" shall mean the Chief of police of the city <br />of Santa. Ana or his duly authorized subordinates. <br /> <br />Sec. 38-1.4. City manager. <br /> <br /> "City manager" shall mean the city manager of. the City of <br />Santa Aha, or his duly authorized subordinates. <br /> <br /> -Sec. 38;1.5. 'ComPensation. . <br /> "Compensation" shall' mean any money, thing of Value, pay- <br />ment, consideration, reward, tip, donation, gratuity or profit <br />paid to, accepted, or received-by the driver of 'any vehicle in <br />e~change for transportation of .a person or persons, whether'paid <br />upon solicitation, demand or contract, or voluntarily, or in- <br />tended as a gratuity or donation. <br /> <br /> <br />
