NS - 1255 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA AMENDING THE SANTA ANA <br />MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING SECTION 14-23 <br />PROVIDING AUTHORITY TO ESTABLISH AND <br />COLLECT FEES FOR PARAMEDIC SERVICES <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />SECTION l: That the Santa <br />by adding a section, to be <br />section reads as follows: <br /> <br />Ana Municipal Code is hereby amended <br />numbered Section 14-23, which said <br /> <br />Sec. 14-23. Fees for Paramedic Services <br /> <br />The City may establish and collect fees for emergency <br />transportation of persons in paramedic or other Fire <br />Department vehicles to a hospital for medical care <br />and for emergency services rendered to persons by <br />paramedics. The City Council may establish such <br />fees by resolution. <br /> <br />The Fire Chief shall notify the Director of Finance <br />following such emergency transportation and/or services <br />in writing of the name and address of the person, <br />date and time of the services performed, and such <br />other information as may be required. The Director <br />of Finance shall thereafter cause appropriate billings <br />to be made. <br /> <br />Such fees for transportation shall not <br />the average fees charged by commercial <br />for comparable services in the city. <br /> <br />be less than <br />ambulances <br /> <br />The amount of such fees charged shall be deemed a <br />debt to the city of the person or persons receiving <br />said services and, if minors, their parents or guardians. <br />Any person owing money shall be liable in an an action <br />brought in the name of the city for recovery of such <br />amount, including reasonable attorney fees. <br /> <br />SECTION 2: If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase <br />or portion of this ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid <br />or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of competent <br />jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the <br />remaining portions of this ordinance. The City Council of the <br />City of Santa Ana hereby declares that it would have adopted <br />this ordinance and each section, subsection, sentence, clause, <br />phrase or portion thereof irrespective of the fact that any one <br />or more sections, subsections, clauses, phrases or portions be <br />declared invalid or unconstitutional. <br /> <br />SECTION 3: This ordinance shall take effect thirty days after <br />'its adoption. <br /> <br />SECTION 4: The Clerk of the Council shall certify to the passage <br />6f this ordinance and cause the same to be published in some <br />daily newspaper printed and published in the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City <br />Santa Ana at its regular <br />meeting held on the Sth day of MaT <br />19 75 <br /> <br />Council of the City of <br /> <br /> <br />
