ORDINANCE NO. NS- 1289 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />AMENDING DIVISION 2 OF CHAPTER 36 OF <br />THE SANTA ANA ~93NICIPAL CODE BY REPEALING <br />ARTICLE VII THEREOF kND ADOPTING AND <br />ADDING THEIIETO NEW ARTICLES VII AND VII.A <br />TO ESTABLISH PRI~{A FACIE SPEED LIMITS UPON <br />CERTAIN STREETS AND PORTIONS OF STREETS <br />IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA. <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA A~;A DOES HEREBY <br />ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That Article VII of Division 2, Chapter <br />36 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby amended by <br />repealing said Article (consisting of Sections 36-228 through <br />36-397, inclusive) in its entirety and adopting and adding to <br />said Division and Chapter a new Article VII to read as follows: <br /> <br />ARTICLE VII. INCREASED PRI~ FACIE SPEED LIMITS <br /> <br /> The City Council of the City of Santa Aha hereby finds <br />and determines, upon the basis of engineering and traffic sur- <br />veys made on the dates hereinafter in this Article VII speci- <br />fied, that a speed greater than 25 miles per hour would facili- <br />tate the orderly movement of vehicular traffic and would be <br />reasonable and safe upon the streets and portions of streets <br />hereinafter specified, which otherwise would be subject to a <br />prima facie limit of 25 miles per hour, and does hereby deter- <br />mine and declare prima facie speed limits upon such streets <br />and portions of streets as are hereinafter respectively speci- <br />fied. The prima facie speed limits hereinafter specified <br />shall be effective, respectively, when appropriate signs <br />giving notice thereof are erected upon the streets and portions <br />of streets hereinafter specified. The provisions of this <br />Article shall not apply in respect to any 25 miles per hour <br />pri~a facie speed limit which is applicable when passing a <br />school or the grounds thereof.
