NS-1459.1 <br /> <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA <br />ANA AMENDING SECTION 9-135 OF THE SANTA ANA <br />MUNICIPAL CODE TO CHANGE THE DATE OF THE <br />VETERAN'S DAY HOLIDAY FROM OCTOBER 23 TO <br />NOVEMBER 11; AND STATING THE REASONS FOR ITS <br />URGENCY <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES <br />ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTI~ON 1: That Section 9-135 of the Santa Ana Muni- <br />cipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 9-135. Holidays - Regular employees. <br /> <br />Legal holidays observed by city employees shall <br />be January 1, the third Monday in February in <br />memory of George Washington's birthday the last <br />Monday in May in cormnemoration of Memorial Day, <br />July 4, the first Monday in September, November <br />11, Thanksgiving Day, the Friday immediately <br />following Thanksgiving Day, the last working day <br />occurring immediately prior to December 25, and <br />December 25 and every day proclaimed by the mayor <br />as a holiday for city employees. Any holiday <br />which falls on Sunday will be observed on the <br />following Monday and any holiday which falls on <br />a Saturday will be observed on the Friday pre- <br />ceding the holiday. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: This Council finds that this ordinance <br />urgently required as an emergency ordinance for the following <br />reasons: <br /> <br />is <br /> <br />a. State and Federal offices observe November 11 <br /> as the holiday for Veteran's Day. <br /> <br />be <br /> <br />The regular flow of public business will be <br />uninterrupted and unobstructed if the City of <br />Santa Ana remains open on October 23. <br /> <br /> Therefore, the City Council declares that this ordinance <br />shall take effect, and be adopted, as an emergency measure and is <br />to be enforced from the date of publication of title as required <br />by the Charter of the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> ADOPTED this 16th day of October , 1978, <br />by the following vote, to wit: <br /> <br /> AYES: COUNCILMEN: Garthe, Ward, Bricken, Yamamoto, <br /> Evans, Brandt <br /> NOES: COUNCILMEN: None <br /> <br />-- ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: 0rtiz <br /> <br /> <br />
