ORDINANCE NO. NS-1468 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA PROVIDING <br />FOR THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION <br />IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA, ON THE 3RD <br />DAY OF APRIL, 1979, FOR THE ELECTION OF THREE <br />MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL, GIVING N~TICE OF SAID <br />ELECTION, HOURS DURING WHICH THE PDLLS SHALL BE <br />OPEN, AND AUTHORIZING APPOINTMENT OF ELECTION <br />OFFICERS TO SERVE AT SAID ELECTION. <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION <br />called to be held <br />3, 1979. <br /> <br />1: That a General Municipal Election is hereby <br />in the City of Santa Ana, California, on April <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: That there shall be 73 voting precincts, <br />several of which are single State and County precincts renumbered <br />for said Election and the rest of which consist of consolidations <br />of State and County Precincts, all consisting of territory within <br />the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> SECTION 3: That the Precinct Board of each precinct <br />shall consist of one Inspector, one Judge, and two Clerks; and <br />that said Precinct officers shall receive the following compensa- <br />tion for their services: Inspectors, $29.00, Judges and Clerks, <br />$24.00, and owners of privately owned polling places shall receive <br />the sum of $15.00 for the use of each polling place. <br /> <br /> SECTION 4: That the consolidated voting precincts, <br />the polling places thereof, and the Precinct Board for each such <br />precinct shall be as set out on that certain document headed <br />"ELECTION OFFICERS AND POLLING PLACES" on file in the office of <br />the Clerk of the Council, and the Boards of each such voting <br />precinct are hereby appointed. The Clerk of the Council is hereby <br />authorized to find and appoint substitutes for any election offi- <br />cer hereby appointed who is unable or umvilling to act. <br /> <br /> SECTION 5: That said Election shall be held and con- <br />ducted in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the <br />City of Santa Ana, the Constitution of. the State of California, <br />and the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of Califor- <br />nia insofar as the same may be applicable thereto. On the day <br />of the Election the polls shall be opened at 7:00 A.M. and shall <br />be kept open until 8700 P.M., at which time the polls shall be <br />closed. The Clerk of the Council shall prepare and cause to be <br />published a NOTICE OF ELECTION for one time; a list of names of <br />the nominees in the order in which they will appear on the Ballot <br />and the respective offices for which they are nominated once a <br />week for two successive weeks, with at least 5 intervening days <br />between the dates of publication; and a notice of election officers <br />and polling places for one time. <br /> <br /> SECTIOn; 6~ The Clerk of the Council shall prepare and <br />cause to be printed official ballots and election supplies neces- <br />sary for the holding of said Election as required by law, and <br />sample ballots and Dolling place cards, and shall provide for <br />the mailing of the s~e to each registered elector within the City. <br /> <br /> <br />
