NS-1471 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DECLARING <br />A VACANCY IN THE OFFICE OF COUNCILMAN IN WARD <br />FIVE AND PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING OF A SPECIAL <br />MUNICIPAL ELECTION IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, <br />CALIFORNIA, ON THE THIRD DAY OF APRIL, 1979, FOR <br />THE ELECTION OF ONE MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL, <br />GIVING NOTICE OF SAID ELECTION, HOURS DURING <br />WHICH THE POLLS SHALL BE OPEN, AUTHORIZING APPOINT- <br />MENT OF ELECTION OFFICERS TO SERVE AT SAID ELECTION; <br />AND ORDERING SAID SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE <br />CONSOLIDATED WITH THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO <br />BE HELD ON SAID DATE. <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES <br />ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That the office of Councilman, Ward <br />Five, is hereby declared vacant by reason of the resignation <br />of the incumbent therein, effective April 9, 1979. A Special <br />Municipal Election is hereby called to be held in the City <br />of Santa Ana, California, on April 3, 1979 to fill said office <br />for the unexpired term thereof, as hereinafter specified. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: That there shall be 75 voting pre- <br />cincts, several of which are single State and County precincts <br />renumbered for said Election and the rest of which consist <br />of consolidations of State and County Precincts, all consist- <br />ing of territory within the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> SECTION 3: That the Precinct Board of each precinct <br />shall consist of one Inspector, one Judge, and two Clerks; <br />and that said Precinct Officers shall receive the following <br />compensation for their services: Inspectors, $29.00, Judges <br />and Clerks, $24.00, and owners of privately owned polling <br />places shall receive the sum of $15.00 for the use of each <br />polling place. <br /> <br /> SECTION 4: That the consolidated voting precincts, <br />the polling places thereof, and the Precinct Board for each <br />such precinct shall be as set out on that certain document <br />headed "ELECTION OFFICERS AND POLLING PLACES" on file in the <br />office of the Clerk of the Council, and the Boards of each <br />such voting precinct are hereby appointed. The Clerk of the <br />Council is hereby authorized to find and appoint substitutes <br />for any election officer hereby appointed who is unable or <br />unwilling to act. <br /> <br /> SECTION 5: That said Election shall be held and <br />conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Charter <br />of the City of Santa Ana, the Constitution of the State of <br />California, and the provisions of the Elections Code of the <br />State of California insofar as the same may be applicable <br />thereto. On the day of the Election the polls shall be opened <br />at 7:00 a.m. and shall be kept open until 8:00 p.m., at which <br />time the polls shall be closed. The Clerk of the Council <br />shall prepare and cause to be published a NOTICE OF ELECTION <br />for one time; a list of names of the nominees in the order <br />in which they will appear on the Ballot and the office for <br />which they are nominated once a week for two successive weeks, <br />with at least five (5) intervening days between the dates <br />of publication; and a notice of election officers and polling <br /> <br /> <br />
