NS-1485 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA ADDING <br />SECTION 10-176 TO THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE <br />RELATING TO THE POSSESSION OF FIREARMS AND <br />AMMUNITION BY A MINOR AND FURNISHING FIREARMS <br />OR AMMUNITION TO A MINOR <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: The Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby <br />amended by adding a section, to be numbered 10-176, which <br />said section reads as follows: <br /> <br /> Sec. 10-176. Possession of firearms or ammunition by <br />a minor. <br /> <br /> (a) No minor shall possess any firearm or <br />ammunition in a public place. <br /> <br /> (b) No person shall sell, exchange, give or <br />loan, or cause or permit to be sold, exchanged, <br />given or loaned, any firearm or ammunition to any <br />person under the age of eighteen (18) years. <br /> <br /> (c) For the purpose of this section, the <br />term firearm means any weapon which will or is <br />designed to or may readily be converted to expel <br />a projectile by the action of an explosive. <br /> <br /> (d) For the purpose of this section, the <br />term ammunition means any unexpended cartridge <br />or shell, consisting of a case which holds a <br />charge of powder and a bullet or shot, or any de- <br />vice containing any explosive designed and in- <br />tended for use in any firearm, or any device <br />containing any explosive. <br /> <br /> (e) Nothing in this section shall prohibit <br />the the possession of any firearm by a minor at <br />a bona fide firing range or in an automobile ve- <br />hicle while enroute to or from hunting any game <br />animal that may be legally hunted under the pro- <br />visions of the Fish and Game Code, provided <br />said minor has the written permission of his <br />parent or guardian to have such firearm or is <br />accompanied by his parent or guardian while he <br />has such firearm in his possession. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: If any section, subsection, sentence, <br />clause, phrase or portion of this ordinance is for any <br />reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the <br />decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such <br />decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining <br />portions of this ordinance. The City Council of the City of <br />Santa Ana hereby declares that it would have adopted this <br />ordinance and each section, subsection, sentence, clause, <br /> <br /> <br />
