NS-1574 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />AMENDING SECTION 8-1900 OF THE SANTA ANA <br />MUNICIPAL CODE AND ADDING SECTION 8-1904 <br />OF THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE TO ADOPT <br />THE UNIFORM DANGEROUS BUILDINGS CODE BY <br />REFERENCE <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES <br />ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That section 8-1900 of the Santa <br />Ana Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 8-1900. Adoption by reference. <br /> <br /> There is adopted by the city that certain code <br />known as the Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous <br />Buildings, 1979 Edition, and the whole thereof, save and <br />except such portions as are deleted by the amendments set <br />forth in this article, of which said code not less than <br />three (3) copies have been and are on file in the office of <br />the clerk of the council of the city. The said code is <br />adopted and incorporated as fully as if set forth at length <br />herein as provided for in Section 419 of the Charter of the <br />city, and subject to all amendments set forth in this <br />article, shall be in effect within the City of Santa Ana <br />from the effective date of this ordinance. Any provision of <br />this article amending the "Dangerous Buildings Code" or <br />"Uniform Dangerous Buildings Code" shall be construed as <br />amending the said adopted code, 1979 Edition, including such <br />provisions enacted prior to the enactment of this ordinance <br />and not thereafter repealed. The said adopted code, 1979 <br />Edition, as thus amended, together with all other provisions <br />of this article, shall be known as the dangerous building <br />code of the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code, <br />is hereby amended by adding a section to be numbered 8-1904, <br />which said section reads as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 8-1904. Board of Appeals. <br /> <br /> Section 205 of the Uniform Dangerous Building_ Code <br />is amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> Section 205. In order to provide for final <br />interpretation of the provisions of this code and to hear <br />appeals provided for hereunder, there is hereby established <br />a Board of Appeals consisting of members who are not <br />employees of the city, and who are qualified, by experience <br />and training, to pass upon matters pertaining to this code. <br />The building official shall be an ex-officio member of and <br />shall act as secretary to said board. The board shall be <br />appointed by the governing body and shall hold office at its <br />pleasure. The board shall adopt reasonable rules and <br />regulations for conducting its business and shall render all <br />decisions and findings in writing to the appellant with a <br />copy to the building official. Appeals to the board shall <br />be processed in accordance with the provisions contained in <br />Section 501 of this code. Copies of all rules or <br />regulations adopted by the board shall be delivered to the <br />building official, who shall make them freely accessible to <br />the public. <br /> <br /> <br />
