NS- 1734 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />ADDING SECTION 8-61 TO THE SANTA ANA <br />MUNICIPAL CODE TO IMPOSE CERTAIN FIRE <br />PROTECTION REQUIREMENTS ON THE <br />REHABILITATION OF OLDER BUILDINGS. <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA .DOES ORDAIN <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby <br />amended by adding a section, to be numbered 8-61, which said <br />section reads as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 8-61. Fire Protection Requirements <br /> <br /> Subsection (b) of Section 104 of the Building Code is <br />amended by adding thereto the following: <br /> <br /> EXCEPTION: If additions, alterations or repairs <br />made to any building constructed prior to January 1, 1946, <br />other than an R-Occupany building, exceed $20,000 in cost in <br />any one-year period, then either (A) the entire building must <br />be completely sprinklered in accordance with fire department <br />standards, or (B) the building must comply with all the follow- <br />ing requirements: <br /> <br /> 1. The ceiling of a roof system shall be of one-hour, <br />construction, and all ceiling or wall penetrations shall hav~ <br />approved fire dampers. <br /> <br /> 2. All stairways shall be completely enclosed with <br />one-hour construction to exits; and enclosed stairways or re- <br />quired exits shall lead directly to the outside of the build- <br />ing. <br /> <br /> 3. Fire stops are required in floors in accordance with <br />section 2517(f) 2. In attic areas, one-hour walls shall be <br />required for every 1000 square feet of area. <br /> <br /> <br />
