NS- 1886 <br />PAGE FOUR <br /> <br /> Eligible: A person who legally may be appointed to a <br />vacant position in the competitive service as provided in the <br />rules. <br /> <br /> Eligible list: A list of persons eligible for appointment <br />in the competitive service to positions in the class indicated <br />by the title of the class. <br /> <br /> Loyalty oath: That oath prescribed by the Government Code <br />of the State of California (Section 18150). <br /> <br /> Oath of office: That oath required by the charter, prior <br />to entering upon the duties of a position. <br /> <br /> Permanent appointment: An appointment to a permanent <br />position after completion of a prescribed probationary period. <br /> <br /> Permanent employee: An employee who has successfully <br />completed his probationary period and has received a permanent <br />appointment.
