NS-19~ <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />AMENDING SECTIONS 2-101, 2-101.1, 2-101.2, <br />2-101.3, 2-101.4, 2-101.5 AND 2-101.6 OF <br />THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL CODE TO CHANGE <br />THE COMMENCEMENT DATE FOR NEWLY ELECTED <br />CITY COUNCILS AND TO CHANGE THE TITLES OF <br />"VICE MAYOR" AND "MAYOR PRO TEM" TO "MAYOR <br />PRO TEM" AND "ACTING MAYOR PRO TEM" RESPEC- <br />TIVELY. <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1: That section 2-101 of the Santa Ana Municipal <br />Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 2-101. Organization <br /> <br /> The newly elected council shall convene on the <br />first regularly scheduled meeting after election returns <br />are certified for any general municipal election at <br />which any member of said council shall have been elected, <br />or as soon thereafter as the new members have taken <br />their oaths of office. The newly elected council shall <br />proceed to organize, and the newly elected mayor shall <br />immediately become the presiding officer. The council <br />shall thereafter elect a mayor pro tem. <br /> <br /> In the absence of the mayor and the mayor pro tem <br /> the clerk of the council shall call the council to order <br /> and call the roll of the members. If a quorum is found <br /> to be present, the council shall, by majority vote of <br /> those present, elect a chairman of the meeting to act <br /> during the meeting or until one of the regularly desig- <br /> nated presiding office~s shall appear. <br /> <br />SECTION 2: That section 2-101.1 of the Santa Ana Municipal <br />Code is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 2-101.1. Appointment of acting mayor pro tem. <br /> <br /> The mayor shall have the right to appoint an acting <br />mayor pro tem when, in his or her judgment, neither the <br />mayor nor the mayor pro tem are able to attend to any <br />public function requiring the mayor's presence, either <br />in his or her official or unofficial capacity. <br /> <br />453 <br /> <br /> <br />
